This past weekend the team traveled down to William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. It was actually the second weekend of our spring break. We left Friday afternoon after rounding up all our gear and team members. It took us nearly 9 hours after stops and all the traffic around D.C. and Virginia. It is definitely the furthest regatta we have gone to.

We were able to take six team members: Robert, Jeremy, Maggie, Edgard, Declan, and Mike. Edgard and Mike took turns skippering in the A fleet with Jeremy as their crew. And Robert and Maggie skippered B with Declan. None of us have had any practice since the fall season, due to the weather.
Overall, we came in 9th place out of the 11 teams. We were regularly beating American University and often right on the tail of the University of Maryland. Below is the link to see the break down of all of the races.
Saturday was not the best day for sailing. The winds started of light at around 2-4 kts from the south west, but after three races it completely died. So without wind, we took a break for lunch and when we returned it wasn't any better so races were called for the day. The team then went out and explored Colonial Williamsburg. It was fun going into the small shops and taking a look at the history and the reenactments. Then we had dinner with several of the other teams at Las Toltecas. Sunday began with snow and rain. The winds were blowing 10-15 kts with gusts of 20 the rest of the day. We did have a protest against Hampton University for fouling us twice at the starting line during one race. However, it was thrown out because it was not filed properly. We got in 9 more races before the regatta was over. We finished up at 2:30, then headed home which took about 8.5 hours to get back to Rutgers.
